A. What do you think about these two sentences? Are they right? Why?

1When I'm thinking about you, I'm very happy.

想【xiǎng=think】你【nǐ=you】的【de】时候【shíhòu=moment, when】我【wǒ=I】很【hěn=very】高兴【gāoxìng=happy】。

你的 时候 高兴。

Answer:

No, because it's not lasting enough to express the happy feeling. Use开心【kāixīninstead of高兴【gāoxìng.

 

The sentence should be written as想【xiǎng=think】你【nǐ=you】的【de】时候【shíhòu=moment, when】我【wǒ=I】很【hěn=very】开心【kāixīn=happy】。

 

2. I'm so happy to meet you.

Both of sentences are right. But the first is more lasting feeling than the second. The second is the momentary mood. In these similar sentences, you can use 高兴【gāoxìng=happyto describe the momentary mood or 开心【kāixīn=happyto describe more lasting feeling.
